Is there a difference between a bladder infection and a UTI?

There’s no difference–they mean the same thing. Technically, the urinary tract is comprised of the urethra, bladder, ureters, and kidneys, but when we refer to a UTI, we are generally referring to an infection of the bladder. If the infection ascends beyond the bladder and into the kidneys, the medical term is pyelonephritis.
